Description

4-Hole Internal Aquarium Overflow / Weir Box

Our internal aquarium overflow, also commonly known as a weir box, is designed to move water between the main display aquarium and a sump filtration system while keeping the plumbing contained within the footprint of the aquarium.

This setup is especially popular for stand-alone aquarium and cabinet combinations, where external plumbing or overflow boxes may be difficult to conceal.

The 4-hole configuration includes:

  • 2 main drains
  • 1 emergency drain
  • 1 return

The structural section of the weir is built from glass matched to the thickness of the aquarium, then finished with black acrylic and fixed overflow combing for a clean appearance.

Holes are drilled through the base of the aquarium during manufacture and can be individually sized to suit 20mm, 25mm, 32mm, 40mm or 50mm Australian PVC plumbing. Purpose made aquarium bulkhead fittings are included in our price and are designed to suit Australian PVC pipe sizes with a push-fit connection.

Plumbing and pipework are not included. Plumbing packages are available separately.

The internal overflow is installed and sealed into the aquarium as part of our build process. Standard sizing is used, with minor adjustments available on request. Positioning can also be selected to suit the aquarium layout, with rear left, rear centre and rear right being the most common options.

One of the main advantages of an internal overflow system is quieter operation compared with simple through the side or back panel drain setups, while also providing a neat way to manage sump drainage and return plumbing within the aquarium footprint.

This is available as an add-on across our Classic, Bespoke and Custom aquarium ranges.
