Terms of service

Terms of Service
Last updated: 15 October 2026

These Terms of Service apply to purchases, quotations, custom projects and services supplied by Aquariums Brisbane.

By placing an order, accepting a quotation, paying a deposit or otherwise instructing Aquariums Brisbane to proceed with work, you agree to the terms applicable to your order.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

Orders and quotations

Product specifications, inclusions, dimensions, finishes, quantities and pricing will be as described on the applicable product page, order confirmation or quotation.

For custom projects, the quotation and any subsequently approved drawings, specifications or written variations form part of the agreement between Aquariums Brisbane and the customer.

Customers should carefully check all order details before approving an order or paying a deposit.

Custom and made-to-order products

Many Aquariums Brisbane products are manufactured specifically for an individual customer. This can include aquariums, stands, cabinetry, sumps, plumbing and other customised components.

Once manufacturing, procurement of materials or other committed work has commenced, changes or cancellations may result in additional charges or deductions reflecting reasonable work and costs already incurred, subject to applicable law.

Any requested variation after approval may affect the price and estimated completion time.

Customer supplied measurements and information

Customers are responsible for ensuring that measurements, dimensions, access information and other specifications supplied by them are accurate.

Aquariums Brisbane is not responsible for issues caused solely by incorrect information or measurements supplied by the customer, except where otherwise required by law.

Where installation into an existing opening, cabinet, wall or other fixed structure is required, customers should ensure all relevant dimensions and site conditions are confirmed before manufacturing begins.

Handmade products and reasonable tolerances

Aquariums Brisbane products are individually fabricated and assembled. Minor variations in dimensions, silicone finish, timber, cabinetry, glass appearance and other handmade components may occur.

These variations do not necessarily constitute a defect where they are reasonable for the materials and manufacturing process and do not affect the intended function or structural integrity of the product.

Lead times

Manufacturing and completion timeframes are estimates unless specifically agreed otherwise in writing.

Lead times may be affected by workload, material availability, suppliers, subcontractors, freight, unexpected manufacturing requirements and other circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Aquariums Brisbane will make reasonable efforts to keep customers informed of significant changes to estimated completion times.

Payments and deposits

Payment requirements for custom projects will be specified in the relevant quotation or invoice.

Deposits may be required before design, procurement or manufacturing commences. Progress payments may also be required during larger projects.

Final payment may be required before collection, delivery, installation or dispatch where specified in the quotation or invoice.

Aquarium installation and support

Aquariums must be installed on a suitable, level and structurally adequate surface.

Where required for the aquarium design, a suitable foam base must support the aquarium correctly from edge to edge.

Stands and cabinetry supporting an aquarium must be purpose-built for aquarium use, designed and constructed by a suitably qualified professional, or otherwise approved by Aquariums Brisbane where appropriate.

The stand or cabinet must be levelled correctly before the aquarium is filled. Levelling materials must not be placed directly between the aquarium and its foam base.

Structural suitability of the site

Customers are responsible for ensuring that the building, floor or installation location is structurally capable of supporting the completed aquarium system and its contents.

Large aquariums can impose substantial loads. Aquariums Brisbane may recommend assessment by a suitably qualified structural professional where appropriate.

Raw timber products

Raw timber stands and cabinetry must be adequately sealed with a suitable water-resistant paint, varnish or sealant before being exposed to normal aquarium use.

Failure to adequately protect raw timber may result in swelling, movement, deterioration or water damage.

Care, handling and modifications

Aquariums must never be moved or lifted while containing water, substrate, rocks, decorations or equipment.

Household glass cleaners, harsh chemicals and abrasive products should not be used on aquarium glass or silicone.

Blades and sharp tools should not be used against or close to silicone seams.

Aquariums, bracing, silicone seams and structural components must not be drilled, cut, removed or modified without appropriate advice from Aquariums Brisbane.

Damage caused by incorrect installation, misuse, modification, impact, inadequate support or failure to follow supplied care instructions may not be covered by an Aquariums Brisbane express warranty. This does not affect any rights that apply under Australian Consumer Law.

Customer supplied equipment

Where Aquariums Brisbane installs, connects or incorporates equipment supplied by the customer or another supplier, responsibility for the performance, compatibility and warranty of that equipment remains subject to the terms of its original manufacturer or supplier, except to the extent that a problem has been caused by work performed by Aquariums Brisbane.

Pickup, delivery and freight

Pickup, delivery and freight are subject to our Shipping & Delivery Policy.

Customers collecting large or fragile products are responsible for providing a suitable vehicle, appropriate restraints and adequate protection for safe transport.

Products, images and website information

We make reasonable efforts to ensure product descriptions, photographs, dimensions and other information are accurate.

Colours, timber grain, stone, natural materials and handcrafted finishes may vary from photographs because of natural variation, lighting, displays and manufacturing processes.

Intellectual property and custom designs

Website content, photographs, drawings, designs and other material produced by Aquariums Brisbane remain the intellectual property of Aquariums Brisbane or their respective owners unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Custom drawings and design information supplied to customers are intended for the relevant project and must not be reproduced commercially without permission.

Australian Consumer Law

Our goods and services are supplied subject to consumer guarantees that may apply under the Australian Consumer Law.

Nothing in these Terms of Service, our warranty information or any other Aquariums Brisbane policy is intended to exclude or limit rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Other policies

These Terms should be read together with our Return & Refund Policy, Shipping & Delivery Policy, Privacy Policy and applicable Aquarium Care & Installation information.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable in Queensland, Australia.
